UK-based renewable natural gas (RNG) projects developer CycleO Group Limited announced today it has acquired Biogasclean, a Danish provider of technology used for biogas and e-fuels production.

Founded in 2008, Biogasclean supplies systems for biological desulfurisation and methanation of biogas and carbon dioxide (CO2). More than 350 of its systems are already in operation or under construction in over 40 countries.

The addition of the company’s systems to existing biomethane plants can capture biogenic CO2, increase green gas production by around 70% and complete the biomethane carbon loop, CycleO noted in the press release.

“We are delighted to welcome Biogasclean's talented and experienced team to our Group and look forward to deploying their patented biocatalyst technologies to produce more carbon-negative fuels for the hard to electrify energy, heat, transport, and industrial sectors,” said CycleO’s CEO Laurence Molke.

The transaction was supported by CycleO’s backer, private equity and infrastructure investment firm Ara Partners. Its financial details were not disclosed.
