Indian renewables developer Sunsure Energy has signed an open-access solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with consumer goods company Dabur India Ltd (BOM:500096) to supply a factory in the northern part of the country.

The contract concerns the supply of more than 4 million kWh of solar power to a Dabur facility located in Ghaziabad, the largest city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, according to a statement published today.

With the PPA, Dabur India expects to avoid the emission of more than 3,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually over the next 25 years.

“This agreement stands as a significant stride towards advancing the adoption of green energy in the FMCG [fast-moving consumer goods] sector. Looking ahead, we are dedicated to harnessing our strengths in the renewable energy sector to support Dabur India in reaching their Net Zero goals,” said Sunsure’s CEO Shashank Sharma

Earlier this month, Sunsure reached a similar deal with local tiles maker Kajaria Ceramics Ltd.
