CIP completes construction of 300-MW Taiwanese offshore wind farm
Sep 05, 2024 9:51 CESTDanish pension fund Laegernes Pension said on Tuesday that it has invested just under DKK 400 million (USD 58.1m/EUR 53.6m) in the Changfang-Xidao offshore wind farm located off the coast of Taiwan.
The announcement comes a week after the nearly 600-MW wind farm was inaugurated.
Danish investment firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S (CIP) is the majority owner of Changfang-Xidao, through its flagship funds CI II and CI III. Thailand-based Global Power Synergy Public Company (GPSC) and two Taiwanese life insurance companies, Taiwan Life and Transglobe Life, each own minority stakes.
Laegernes Pension did not disclose what its investment entailed or how it fits into the ownership structure.
“[T]he combination of a positive climate contribution and the opportunity for competitive returns has been a key reason why Laegernes Pension has invested in the project,” the pension fund said in Tuesday’s press release.
“At Laegernes Pension, we have realised a goal of lowering our climate footprint from investments in equities, real estate and government bonds one year ahead of schedule. However, our ambitions do not end there. By expanding our investments in renewable energy with even more wind turbines, among other things, we want to raise our ambitions and further reduce the carbon footprint of our investments,” commented Chresten Dengsoe, CEO of Laegernes Pension & Bank.
