Dell installs 42.8-kWp solar system at Indian premises

Jun 26, 2013 - US computer maker Dell Inc (NASDAQ:DELL) said Monday it had equipped its facilities in Bangalore, in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, with a 42.78-kWp solar installation.

The photovoltaic (PV) system is located at Dell's premises in Whitefield, Bangalore, it said. The grid-connected plant consists of 186 solar panels, which are expected to cut Dell's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 54.9 tonnes each year.

The Whitefield campus is the second location where Dell builds a solar plant and its first solar site in the Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) region.

In fiscal 2012/13 ended March, some 22.6% of the total power Dell used came from renewable energy facilities, the computer maker noted.
