Africa-focused power platform Themis has issued a full notice to proceed (FNTP) with construction of the 44-MW Singrobo hydropower plant (HPP) project in Cote d’Ivoire, it said today.

The USD-195-million (EUR 177.7m) project will be built by French civil engineering company Eiffage SA (EPA:FGR), which won the contract in an international competitive bidding process.

The Singrobo plant will operate under a 35-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the national off-taker, Cienergues, Themis said.

It will be constructed near the Singrobo and Ahouaty villages on the Bandama river. The plant is expected to start injecting power to the Ivorian grid in early 2023.

The Singrobo project is sponsored by a consortium including the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and IHE Holding, an Ivorian development company.

Headquartered in Casablanca, Morocco, Themis is backed by private equity firm Denham Capital.
