Deutsche Bank projects new global PV capacity to reach 56 GW in 2015

Jan 13, 2014 - Deutsche Bank projects a new boom on the global photovoltaic (PV) market with newly-installed solar capacity to reach 46 GW in 2014 and 56 GW in 2015.

According to a report recently published by the bank, China, USA and Japan will remain the leading PV markets with a solar expansion of between 8 GW and 12 GW expected for 2014. In Europe, Deutsche Bank predicts newly installed capacity of between 7 GW and 8 GW to be achieved in the current year.

Deutsche Bank also expects emerging markets to include India, South Africa, Mexico, Australia, as well as the regions of the Middle East, South America and Southeast Asia. These are projected to each contribute to the global solar power expansion with at least 1 GW of solar capacity.

According to Deutsche Bank, solar power is already competitive without subsidies in at least 19 markets worldwide. In addition, solar module prices are likely to remain at low levels.
