Three European units of Deutsche Telekom AG (ETR:DTE) have signed up to procure electricity from a 192-MW wind farm in Romania under cross-border virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs).

T-Mobile Czech Republic, CE Colo Czech and Slovak Telekom will buy 100 GWh of electricity annually from the first phase of the 461-MW Vifor project in Romania’s Buzau county. The 12-year contracts were signed on Wednesday with Actis-backed Rezolv Energy, which is executing the project together with UK renewables investor Low Carbon.

According to the announcement, the deals are the first cross-border VPPAs signed by Czech or Slovak companies.

Vifor’s Phase One will involve the installation of 30 Vestas V162 turbines and is planned to go online before the end of 2025. Phase Two will add the remaining capacity and make a further 700 GWh available to corporate buyers. The 461-MW complex is due to be fully operational in late 2026.
