PNE wins 24 MW of onshore wind projects in German auction
Sep 19, 2024 8:35 CESTGerman wind turbine technology specialist Deutsche Windtechnik AG today confirmed that its IT systems have been hit by a targeted cyberattack but wind turbines serviced by the company have not been affected.
The incident occured in the night from April 11 to April 12 and forced the company to shut down all systems and cut all remote data monitoring connections to the wind turbines for security reasons. Meanwhile, the machines have been reconnected and Deutsche Windtechnik assured that there is no impact on their operation.
Business operations can continue with minor restrictions.
Deutsche Windtechnik is the third German company operating in the wind power sector that has become the target of a cyberattack over the last two months. Enercon was the first one to report an incident in February followed by Nordex at the end of March. In both cases, the operation of the wind turbines was not affected and they continued producing electricity without restrictions.
