German wind turbine technology specialist Deutsche Windtechnik AG announced today it will assist Japanese company Meidensha Corporation in offering wind energy services to Japanese onshore wind parks.

The consultancy alliance is meant to help Meidensha become a major Independent Service Provider (ISP) for wind turbines, simultaneously enhancing Japan's onshore wind energy sector.

Deutsche Windtechnik said the deal will reduce dependence on wind turbine manufacturers and streamline multi-brand wind farm maintenance.

Under the agreement, the German company will act as an advisor and use its know-how to help Meidensha provide qualification training for wind turbine technicians and ensure domestic field support. Deutsche Windtechnik will also supply the company with important spare parts such as power electronics and other large components.

Japan aims to achieve up to 38% of renewable energy in its mix and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 46% by 2030.
