All funds in place for 1.5-GW Al Ajban solar project in Abu Dhabi
Sep 18, 2024 8:34 CESTDubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a request for proposals (RfP) in a drive to select consultants on a project to study, develop and install floating solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in the Arabian Gulf.
The winner of this call will be in charge of carrying out a number of necessary studies, including a feasibility study, an environmental impact assessment report, a safety plan and marine requirements and seawater feasibility studies.
DEWA did not mention the targeted power generating capacity of the projects.
The emirate’s goal is to source 75% of its total power from clean energy by 2050. Fulfilling the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 requires about 42 GW of renewable energy production capacity, the statement says.
