German private equity firm High-Tech Gruenderfonds (HTGF) said on Thursday it has invested in Caeli Wind GmbH, a local startup that operates a digital marketplace for potential wind project areas.

HTGF’s investment will enable the startup to strengthen its activities in Germany and prepare for expansion into neighbouring markets.

Launched at the end of 2022, Caeli’s platform helps bring key players in the deployment of wind energy and data together. Property owners, such as farmers, forest owners, cooperatives or municipalities, can use the platform to check whether their properties are suitable for wind power generation, calculate possible returns, and eventually offer leases. Project developers, in turn, can apply for the offered areas and submit bids.

“HTGF’s capital and network will be a strong catalyst for our further growth and thus an important contribution to the energy transition,” Heiko Bartels, managing director of Caeli Wind, noted in the statement.

“With a site pipeline of more than 2 GW of wind power, Caeli is already very successful in terms of sales despite its young age,” HTGF industrial tech partner Klaus Lehmann said.
