US data centres outfit Digital Realty (NYSE:DLR) and French utility Engie (EPA:ENGI) today unveiled a power purchase agreement (PPA) that will support the deployment of a 154-MW solar power plant in Germany.

The 10-year contract is for a 116-MW portion of the project, which is located in Brandenburg, northeastern Germany, and is due to come online in late 2023. The solar park will be built by German renewable energy asset manager CEE Group.

Digital Realty is expected to offtake 120 GWh per year.

"This project will further improve the quality and impact of our renewable portfolio by reducing our reliance on existing renewable resources and supplanting them with Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) from this new solar park," said Volker Ludwig, Digital Realty’s managing director for Germany.

Engie's role was to match renewable energy supply and demand and to design a flexible PPA suited to Digital Realty’s needs.
