MPC Capital commissions 43-MW solar farm in Dominican Republic
Sep 02, 2024 10:18 CESTThe energy ministry of the Dominican Republic is working on developing a one-stop-shop for renewable energy projects to simplify the administrative steps for them.
Creating a new single point of contact for renewables is part of the Dominican Republic’s energy transition project sponsored by German development agency GIZ, the energy ministry said last week.
To establish the platform, the ministry and GIZ have formed an inter-institutional working group consisting of the national energy commission CNE, the energy superintendency SIE and the Dominican Republic's state power holding company CDEEE, with the support of the national council on competition CNC.
GIZ has hired a consultancy that will produce an analysis report and develop a mechanism to implement the single paperwork platform. The consultancy will conduct interviews with persons in charge of the permitting process for renewables in different government entities, the energy ministry said.
Once the one-stop-shop project is completed, the administrative process for renewables is expected to be faster.
