The transmission system operator (TSO) of the Dominican Republic, OC-SENI, on Thursday officially inaugurated the solar and wind power generation forecasting service that will provide for a better integration of the Caribbean country's renewables.

The system will predict data from nine wind farms and four solar parks which supply more than 600 MW to the grid, according to the Dominican ministry of energy and mines (MEM).

The forecasting service system was developed by Energy & Meteo Systems, a German provider of power predictions and virtual power plants.

The project was implemented with support from the MEM, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and German development agency GIZ.
