The green energy arm of Ukrainian private energy group DTEK has received technical specifications for the grid-connection of a 650-MW wind farm at home and expects to launch construction in 2025.

DTEK Renewables said on Friday it is in the process of obtaining all required permits and documents needed for building works to commence. According to its statement, the provided technical specifications will be used for the design of the future wind farm's power collection substation.

The DTEK Poltavska wind farm is planned to be located in the Hlobynska community in Poltava region of central Ukraine, where a met mast has already been installed to gather wind data. DTEK plans to erect a second one to track wind flow directions and strength across the extensive project area.

Ornithological surveys have been carried out over six months and confirmed that the proposed turbine layout does not affect bird migration in the spring. Similar migration studies will be conducted in the autumn, as well.

DTEK said it has contacted land owners to secure land for five additional substations and wind turbines. Pre-design works for the project were initiated last October.
