Ukrainian private energy group DTEK said on Tuesday it has initiated pre-design works for a new wind project in the Poltava region.

The Poltavska Wind Power Plant (WPP) project is intended for the Hlobyne town community, with plans to become operational in late 2025 or early 2026. DTEK did not give an approximate annual generation capacity for the wind farm.

The company signed a trilateral agreement with the executive committee of the city council and a specialised certified organisation, which will be tasked with providing various spatial planning works.

DTEK said that the pre-design work will include a series of engineering and geodetic surveys, and the development of a territory plan. Preparing an environmental assessment report and a set of land management, land cadastre and land valuation works will be part of the process. These activities will be completed by May 2024.

Post spacial planning, DTEK Renewables will undertake ornithological surveys.

Despite the continuing war in Ukraine, DTEK managed to finalise the 114-MW Phase I of the Tyligulska Wind Power Plant earlier this year.
