Renewables rise and Russian gas declines, says EC report
Sep 12, 2024 11:11 CESTMar 24, 2014 - Dutch renewable energy firm Raedthuys Windenergie has asked the southern municipality of Breda to permit the construction of seven wind turbines close to the Galder junction (A16 - A58 motorways), the municipality said.
The request does not fit well into the municipality's zoning plan but is simultaneously in line with its ambition to become a CO2-neutral city by 2044, which involves energy saving and sustainable energy production.
So, the municipality will not approve the proposed circular arrangement of the wind turbines. It would find acceptable just a line arrangement of at least three turbines along the A16. The windmills should also have the same height.
The municipality thus takes into account the visual and landscape impact when determining final locations.
What is more, Raedthuys needs to perform various environmental studies to prove that the location is suitable for the placement of wind turbines. Thereafter a procedure for revising the current zoning plan may start, the municipality said.
