The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Tuesday it has approved a senior unsecured loan of up to 1 million euro ($1.1 million) to North Macedonia's Komercijalna Banka Skopje [MSE:KMB], to be used to finance private energy efficiency investments.

The loan, provided under the EBRD’s Green Economy Financing Facility - Western Balkans (GEFF-WB), will be used to finance investments in high-performance green technologies, materials and solutions in privately-owned houses or residential buildings, the EBRD said in a project summary document.

The loan is an extension of an 1 million euro credit line which the EBRD provided to Komercijalna Banka under GEFF in December 2020.

GEFF is a 135 million euro programme co-financed by the EU, the Western Balkans Investment Framework and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance. It is implemented under the umbrella of the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme for the Western Balkans.
