MPC Capital commissions 43-MW solar farm in Dominican Republic
Sep 02, 2024 10:18 CESTThe Dominican Republic’s national energy commission CNE announced on Monday it has awarded the definitive concession for the 30-MW/36-MWp Cumayasa II solar project.
EFD Ecoener Fotovoltaica Dominicana SRL, a unit of Spanish renewables company Grupo Ecoener SAU (BME:ENER), is behind the renewable energy scheme.
Cumayasa II will be located in the municipality of Villa Hermosa, La Romana province and its concession has a period of 25 years, according to CNE’s archive.
Last month, the energy commission granted a definitive concession to another solar project developed by EFD Ecoener -- the Cumayasa I which will have a capacity of 50-MW/60-MWp and will be built in the same region.
Both projects will support the country's goal of expanding renewable energy to meet 25% of the national demand by 2025 and 30% by 2030.
