Hong Kong-based renewable energy engineering firm EcoSmart Energy announced today it will build a 3-MWp solar array on the rooftop of a facility at the Hong Kong International Airport.

EcoSmart was hired to build the photovoltaic (PV) system at aircraft maintenance hangars of Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Ltd, also known as HAECO Group. The solar array will consist of approximately 6,000 solar panels.

South Korea's LG Corp (KRX:003550) is the supplier of solar panels for this project, EcoSmart said.

The engineering company expects the PV project to be completed in April 2022. Once up and running, the system will be capable of generating some 2,877,321 kWh per year, enough to meet the electrical demand of 631 Hong Kong households.
