Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTMay 30, 2013 - French renewable energy group EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) and German WPD Offshore said today they had signed a partnership deal, envisaging participation in the second call for tenders of the French government for installing offshore wind capacity.
The partnership includes also French heavy engineering group Alstom (EPA:ALO) which will supply wind turbines.
With the current partnership, EDF EN and its German peer will combine their know-how, human potential and financial means via a joint venture in which EDF EN will be the majority shareholder.
The French company is a leader in the sector of renewable energy, with more than 277 MW of wind energy capacity under construction and some 2,500 MW under development.
WPD Offshore has 18 wind energy projects in six countries, eight of which have already obtained all necessary construction permits for a total capacity of 2,500 MW. The group's first achievements are based in Germany.
