Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTEDF Renewables North America, part of French electric utility group EDF SA (EPA:EDF), said on Tuesday that it had commissioned 1,054.7 MWp of onshore wind, solar and storage in the US and Canada in 2022.
It said that its Grid-Scale Power team brought online 922.4 MW of that capacity. Among these projects is one onshore wind farm in Alberta, Canada, with the rest being wind, solar and battery plants installed in Texas, Nevada, California and Iowa.
The company's Distribution-Scale power team delivered nine projects totalling 56 MWp, while the Onsite Solutions team, through affiliate PowerFlex, carried out 76.7 MWp of solar, 9.4 MWh of storage and 2,606 new installations for electric vehicle charging, EDF Renewables North America said.
The independent power producer and energy services provider will begin the year 2023 with 1.2 GW under construction and close to 8 GW in late-stage development, according to Tristan Grimbert, president and CEO of EDF Renewables North America.
“I’m very proud of our team’s ability to deliver this scale of renewable energy projects in light of the many challenges during the year around import restrictions, supply chain constraints and increased cost of capital. Some good news came with the Inflation Reduction Act passing in Q3, providing a hopeful outlook for stability in support of our long-term strategy to decarbonize the energy sector,” said Grimbert.
