EDP Energia Polska, active in photovoltaic (PV) installations for small and medium-sized enterprises, said it contracted over 50 MWp of solar capacity with clients in 2022, recording a ten-fold increase on the year.

The surge in capacity was driven by organic growth and acquisitions, the unit of Portuguese energy major EDP said on Friday. In 2022, its portfolio was strengthened with the purchase of local PV installers Soon Energy Poland and Zielona-Energia.com.

EDP Energia Polska provides PV systems for businesses in the PV-as-a-Service model, allowing companies to generate electricity for their own needs without buying the equipment or paying installation or service costs. They are only charged a monthly fee on the basis of the real energy produced.

EDP entered the Polish market in 2007 in the wind energy segment through EDP Renewables. In 2020, the company expanded its portfolio by setting up EDP Energia Polska to provide PV solutions for businesses.
