EDP Renovaveis boosts 2013 output 8%

Jan 30, 2014 - EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), the green energy arm of Portuguese power utility EDP (ELI:EDP), registered an 8% year-on-year rise in its output to 19,903 GWh in 2013, the company said yesterday in a regulatory filing.

The increase was due a significant growth in the company's generation in Europe and the higher load factor of the operated wind farms. The production in Europe added 15% last year while the output in the USA, which accounts for almost half of the total of EDP Renovaveis, went up by 2%. The load factor rose to 30% in 2013 from 29% in 2012.

The power output in Spain and Portugal grew by 14% and 10%, respectively. Production in the rest of Europe added 23%.

EDP Renovaveis increased its installed capacity by 6.3% on the year to 8,489 MW in 2013. There were 255 MW under construction at end-December 2013, of which 253 MW in the wind power segment.
