IEA urges proactive measures to integrate renewables
Sep 18, 2024 11:17 CESTJan 9, 2014 - EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), the green energy arm of Portuguese power utility EDP (ELI:EDP), has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the renewable energy produced by a 200 MW wind farm in the USA, the company said yesterday.
EDP Renovaveis, through its wholly-owned subsidiary EDP Renewables North America, signed a 20-year contract with Kansas City Power & Light Company.
The power to sell to the buyer as of 2016 will be generated by the Waverly wind farm project, which will be installed in the central state of Kansas.
Since the beginning of 2013, EDP Renovaveis has secured 1,200 MW of PPAs, of which 250 MW for projects that were already in operation and 950 MW for new facilities to be installed as of 2014.
The many PPAs contribute to EDP Renovaveis’ low risk profile and provides solid visibility to its growth prospects, the company added in the statement.
