Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTPortuguese renewables company EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) has signed a long-term capacity tolling agreement in the US state of Virginia tied to an 85-MW/340 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project.
The agreement was inked with Virginia-based Dominion Energy Inc (NYSE:D) through EDP Renewables North America LLC, EDPR announced today.
The BESS project is expected to commence operations in 2027.
The Portuguese renewables firm noted this new addition reinforces its belief in the critical role of storage in boosting the potential for renewable energy, encouraging energy transition acceleration and the decarbonisation of the economy.
