Renewable energy company EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) has won a 20-year contract to deploy and operate up to 174 MW of solar distributed generation (DG) capacity in Singapore's latest auction.

The contract was awarded under the government-led Solar Nova programme - Solar Nova phase 8, the company said today. Under its terms, EDPR will install the solar DG systems on the rooftops of public buildings.

The renewable energy company will set up arrays on 1,176 public buildings, specifically public housing and government-owned buildings. Construction is scheduled to commence this year.

EDPR noted that it has secured 58% of the targeted 17 GW in capacity additions planned for the 2023-2026 period.
