EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) said on Thursday its renewable power generation grew 4% year-on-year in 2023 to 34.6 TWh with the Asia Pacific (APAC) region registering the highest increase.

The growth in power generation resulted from a 12% increase in capacity additions, higher solar capacity weight, wind resources below LT average in the US, and rotations of wind assets in Spain and Poland.

Overall, EDPR installed 2.5 GW of new capacity with wind onshore accounting for 47% and solar photovoltaic (PV) for 53% of the total. Europe and North America represented 76% of the total.

More details on EDPR's global generation are available in the table below.

in GWh 2023 2022 Y/Y change
Spain 4,491 4,885 -8%
Portugal 2,701 2,715 -1%
Rest of Europe 4,427 4,178 6%
US 15,428 17,029 -9%
Canada & Mexico 1,878 1,333 41%
Brazil 4,483 2,625 71%
APAC 1,184 636 86%

Due to the new capacity additions, EDPR closed 2023 with 4.4 GW of new capacity under construction, of which more than 60% is solar.
