Nordic-Baltic TSOs conclude pre-feasibility study for hydrogen corridor
Sep 09, 2024 10:43 CESTEstonia-based energy company Eesti Energia announced today that it has completed the procurement process for its project to build a 26.5-MW/51-MWh power storage facility at home, the first grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) in the country.
Local companies Diotech OÜ and Solar Wheel OÜ were declared winners in the international procurement launched by Eesti Energia in June 2023, with LG Energy Solution chosen to supply the battery technology.
The BESS will be built at the Auvere industrial complex in northeastern Estonia. It will have a capacity to power about 75,000 households for two hours. The site is scheduled to become operational by the beginning of 2025.
“The investment in battery storage will help Eesti Energia to increase the use of electricity produced from renewable energy sources, while ensuring more stable prices for end consumers,” the company noted in the Tuesday statement.
