Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTPortuguese company Efacec will be in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), and operation and maintenance (O&M) of a 41-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) farm in Mozambique.
To be located in a 138-hectares (341 acres) area in Metoro town, the PV facility will be the largest of its kind in the country, Efacec said on Wednesday.
French renewable energy company Neoen (EPA:NEOEN) is developing the solar farm. Neoen owns the project in partnership with Electricidade de Mocambique (EDM) through a company named Central Solar Metoro.
Expected to generate 68 GWh per year, this PV project is scheduled to commence power generation by end-2020. Its output will be sold to EDM under a power purchase agreement (PPA).
Once completed, this PV plant will contribute to Mozambique's goal of not only diversifying and decentralising its mix, but also ensuring access to energy to 100% of its population by 2030.
