EIB may lend EUR 120m for biomass power unit in Poland

(ADPnews) – May 9, 2011 - The European Investment Bank (EIB) said on Friday it is considering providing a EUR 120 million (USD 173m) loan to the Polaniec power plant in Poland for the construction of a biomass power unit.

The project concerns the replacement of a coal-fired boiler in the Polaniec plant with a new fluidised-bed boiler designed to combust 100% biomass. The existing steam turbine and generator will be refurbished and allow the production of around 200 MWe.

The total cost of the project is EUR 240 million.
