Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTFrench energy company Eiffage Energia announced today it has broken ground on a 158.7-MW wind plant in Senegal, a project in which it is partnering with Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS)
Located in the Tivaouane region, the project was initially planned to be developed in three phases, but it will now be executed in a single phase comprised of 46 pieces of V126 wind turbines with 3.45 MW of capacity each, supplied by the Danish wind turbine maker.
Construction is estimated to take 18 months. Once completed, the wind farm should be able to supply around 150,000 local households.
The project has been in the works since 2012, when Eiffage and Vestas agreed the collaboration. This was followed by the awarding of the complete Balance of Plant (BOP) package, including civil and electrical works, and construction of additional infrastructure to connect the turbines to the National Electricity Company of Senegal (Senelec), Eiffage noted.
