Spain-based renewables company Elawan Energy SL has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google LLC, landing the US internet giant as the off-taker of electricity generated by its 37-MWdc solar project in Texas.

Elawan said on Thursday that the corporate PPA was facilitated through LEAP, or LevelTen Energy Accelerated Process, a clean energy procurement process co-developed by Google and LevelTen Energy.

Elawan’s solar project, located in Hill County, is currently in an advanced stage of development. The company expects commercial operations to begin in 2026.

Elawan, a subsidiary of Japanese diversified corporate group ORIX Corp (TYO:8591), currently manages an operating portfolio of over 300 MW across the US grid regions ERCOT, SPP and PJM. The solar project for Google is part of Elawan’s strategy to expand across North America.

Elawan’s overall global portfolio comprises 1.8 GW of renewables in operation and around 8 GW in development, according to the company.
