Spanish power company Elecnor SA (BME:ENO) and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) will build a 100-MW wind farm in Mauritania, Elecnor said today, as reported by local media.

The pair has won a EUR-122-million (USD 142m) turnkey contract from the Mauritanian Electricity Company, also known as Somelec, to construct the Boulenouar wind park in the region of Dakhlet Nouadhibou. Elecnor will take care of the engineering and construction work, while Siemens Gamesa will supply 39 units of its SG 2.6-114 wind turbines for the project.

Somelec has also awarded an operations and maintenance (O&M) services contract. It expects the plant to be completed in the final quarter of next year.

This would be Elecnor's second project in the country, after completing a 30-MW wind farm in December 2014.
