The Electrohold Group, part of public holding company Eurohold Bulgaria (BUL:EUBG), today announced plans to build a 100-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in south-central Bulgaria.

The facility will be constructed on 1,270 decares (313 acres) of land near the town of Maglizh in Stara Zagora province. Electrohold estimates it will invest almost EUR 100 million (USD 110.8m) in the project, with building works expected to commence at the end of the year. Completion is scheduled for mid-2024.

The development of the project includes a programme to maintain and expand the biodiversity of the area with a focus on the local population of European ground squirrels. The scheme has already obtained all the necessary permits for its realisation.

The project sponsors are entities owned by Electrohold parent Eurohold and local renewables developer 360 Energy. The same partnership was behind the 123-MW Verila solar project that was completed just recently in southwestern Bulgaria.
