Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTJul 16, 2012 - Norwegian high-efficiency power systems provider Eltek ASA (OSL:ELT) today said it had installed a hybrid solar power system at an off-grid wireless base station in California of US mobile network operator Verizon Wireless.
Verizon Wireless' Bear Mountain cell site in northern California, which serves local residents and tourists, has now been equipped with a Flatpack2 High Efficiency (HE) hybrid solar-propane direct current DC power system.
The site does not have access to grid power and previously used propane generators and a 20-year-old hybrid solar energy installation. Eltek says its system has increased solar power generation, reducing the time the generators were required to operate to less than four hours from 18 hours a day and will significantly cut maintenance costs for the network operator.
The Flatpack2 HE hybrid solar system features a Flatpack2 HE solar converter, a Flatpack2 HE rectifier and a Smartpack controller and has a remote monitoring function. Eltek will also be responsible for managing the whole power infrastructure.
