Solar expansion in Germany slows down to 790 MW in August
Sep 18, 2024 14:19 CESTGerman project developer Elysium Solar GmbH has received municipal approval to build an agri-photovoltaics (agri-PV) project with a capacity of 46 MWp near Berlin.
The green light was given by the community that will be affected by the project, paving the way for the finalisation of the approval process, the company said on Tuesday.
The facility is expected to become operational in the first half of 2025. According to the statement, its estimated electricity output should be enough to meet the needs of about 19,000 households.
Elysium Solar, which is a joint venture between energy-focused advisory firms EIC Partners and LBD-Beratungsgesellschaft, is developing solar projects with a combined capacity of about 300 MWp. Additional schemes totalling 1,000 MWp are in the pipeline.
The project is touted as one of the biggest agri-PV initiatives in Germany which currently has only about 14 MW of such installations in operation. However, the country has the potential to add up to 1 GW of agrivoltaics by 2025, according to the German Energy Agency (DENA).
