German renewables developer PNE recruits Heiko Wuttke as new CEO
Sep 20, 2024 14:12 CEST(ADPnews) - Jun 27, 2011 - The city council of Emden approved last week changes to the land development plan allowing the construction of another port catering for the offshore wind power industry.
The existing port facilities in Emden are too small to handle offshore wind power technology. The new port will be located in the Rysumer Nacken industrial area and spread over 134 hectares (331 acres). The area on which the port will be built is currently in the possession of the federal government but should be transferred to Emden on October 1. The city will then be able to start talks with companies that want to settle in Rysumer Nacken.
Emden is facing competition from Dutch seaport Eemshaven, where Hamburg-based terminal operator Buss Ports has recently started building a facility that will support the offshore wind industry in the region.
