German independent power producer Encavis AG (ETR:ECV) has connected its 30-MW Illevaara wind farm to the grid in Finland, K2 Management (K2M) announced on Wednesday.

K2M, a Danish renewable energy engineer and project management consultancy, provided technical insight and oversight for the final stage of construction of Illevaara. Encavis selected the firm to act as its owner’s engineer for the final stages of the project and ensure its transition to the operations phase.

K2M previously supported the German renewables operator during the acquisition due diligence for the Illevaara project.

The freshly commissioned wind farm is situated in a remote area in the Kainuu region, where temperatures can drop below minus 30 degrees Celsius (-22 degrees F). It features five units of the Vestas V162-6.0 MW wind turbines, which are expected to be able to generate 98 GWh of electricity annually.
