Statkraft connects 44.5-MW solar farm to grid in Spain
Sep 19, 2024 15:28 CEST(ADPnews) - Jun 2, 2011 - Spanish power utility and paper manufacturer Ence (MCE:ENC) has said it intends to invest EUR 50 million (USD 72.26m) in the construction of a 20 MW biomass plant in Caceres, in the Spanish region of Extremadura.
The facility will be able to supply electricity to 50,000 households and will create a total 400 direct and indirect jobs, Ence said in a statement today.
The company applied to the local authorities in Extremadura for administrative and environmental approval of the project, local official gazette Diario Oficial de Extremadura said today.
Ence will use forest waste in the production of electricity at the plant, which will reduce the spread of firesin the summer season in Extremadura.
Currently Ence operates biomass plants with a combined capacity of 180 MW and other 49 MW in co-generation plants in Spain.
