Endesa to supply renewable energy to Mahou-San Miguel plants

Sep 20, 2011 - Spanish power utility Endesa (MCE:ELE) has reached an agreement to supply green energy to eleven plants of brewery Mahou-San Miguel.

The deal envisages the supply of electricity produced by renewable energy sources and high-efficiency cogeneration to the facilities of Mahou-San Miguel in Madrid, Montalbo, Beteta, Lleida, Cordoba, Malaga, Granada, Jaen, Tenerife, Burgos and Guadalajara, Endesa said in a statement today.

The partnership will cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 40,000 tonnes a year and is part of the sustainability strategic plan of Mahou-San Miguel.

Last year, Mahou-San Miguel spent a total EUR 12.6 million (USD 17.22m) on automation processes that led to a reduction in energy consumption.
