Spanish energy services firm Endesa X will install a 6.05-MWp solar farm for self-consumption for PortAventura World, a resort and a theme park outside of Barcelona.

Endesa X, a division of Spanish utility Endesa SA (BME:ELE), said that the customer will fully finance the project with an investment of more than EUR 4.8 million (USD 5m)

The construction of the PortAventura Solar plant will begin shortly on land within the resort. Endesa X expects to populate an area spanning 6.4 hectares (15.8 acres) with over 11,000 solar panels and wrap up works in about four months.

PortAventura Solar is estimated to be capable of generating some 10 GWh of electricity per year, which would be enough to cover about a third of the resort’s consumption needs.
