Endesa X, the energy solutions outfit of Spanish utility Endesa SA (BME:ELE), has been selected to install 9.6 MWp of rooftop solar arrays for pork producer Incarlopsa in Spain.

Endesa said that it was already the Castile-La Mancha ham and sausage maker’s electric utility of choice in 2019 and 2020. The partnership will continue with the new power supply contract, the provision of energy management services and the installation of solar arrays for self-supply, the utility group added.

The arrangement will see Endesa X install the rooftop systems atop Incarlopsa’s ham curing facilities in three locations. The rooftop surfaces, which total 46,000 square metres (495,140 sq ft), or about six football pitches, will be covered in over 21,000 PV modules.

The arrays will produce around 14.25 GWh per year and enable the facilities to cover up to 18% of their consumption needs with clean solar power.

Endesa X will install the arrays at the three sites simultaneously and complete the project in 2021, its parent company said.
