ABP presents plan to turn Port of Barrow into renewables hub
Sep 18, 2024 14:41 CESTUnilever (LON:ULVR, AMS:UNA) is powering 15 sites in the UK with wind energy under a three-year contract with Dutch utility Eneco Holding NV, the consumer goods group said this week.
Since April this year, Unilever UK has been buying 87% of the output of Eneco UK's 23-turbine, 69-MW Lochluichart wind farm in the Scottish Highlands. The facility's surplus power is sold under a retail tariff to local communities.
Unilever UK recently announced that it will use biomethane to power five sites in the UK and Ireland. The company said that both partnerships mean all of Unilever UK's manufacturing sites source 100% of their electricity from certified renewable sources.
The wind power supply deal is part of Unilever's efforts to become carbon positive by 2030. The company says that 63% of the grid energy used across its entire business is generated from renewable sources.
