Estonia-based renewable energy producer Enefit Green AS (TAL:EGR1T) has started feeding electricity to the grid from its 255-MW Sopi-Tootsi wind farm at home.

The company said on Tuesday that the first three turbines at the site have started generating power and supplying it to the grid. At this point, the plant has 28 turbines and work is underway to reach the total number of 38 grid-connected machines.

The installation of the remaining turbines is progressing according to plan, Enefit Green said, adding that it will aim to launch full operations “as soon as possible.”

The Sopi-Tootsi wind park is located in the municipality of Pohja-Parnumaa, Northern Parnu County, and will be the largest one in the Baltic States once commissioned. Its 6.7-MW Nordex turbines will have an annual output that will be enough to cover over 8% of Estonia’s electricity consumption. The plant’s commissioning is scheduled for the first half of next year.

Sopi-Tootsi’s onsite construction commenced early in 2023. The wind farm is being built near the 74-MW Sopi solar park, which is planned to go live in the autumn.
