Estonian renewables developer Enefit Green AS (TAL:EGR1T) has taken the final investment decision (FID) on the 90-MW Kelme 2 wind power project in Lithuania, the company announced today.

It said that it expects to invest close to EUR 150 million (USD 161.7m) in this project. Investments for the construction of the wind farm had been secured earlier through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). These PPAs cover part of the wind farm’s estimated production during the first five to seven years of its operation.

Kelme 2 will generate approximately 315 GWh of electricity per year, according to early estimates. Its commissioning is expected to take place in 2025.

Kelme 2 is the second stage of the three Kelme wind projects and part of Enefit Green’s pipeline aimed at raising the company's installed generation capacity to 1,900 MW by the end of 2026.

Enefit Green is currently building five wind farms across the Baltic region. With the addition of Kelme 2 as the sixth, the company will have a total of 615 MW of wind power capacity under construction.
