Italian utility group Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) generated 93,986 GWh of electricity from clean and renewable sources across its markets worldwide during the first nine months of 2023, increasing production by 12.6% year-on-year, according to its latest periodic bulletin on operating performance.

The increase in output was accompanied by a boost in total installed renewables capacity, which rose to 54,821 MW at the end of the January-September 2023 period from 51,563 MW a year earlier.

Enel produces green energy from hydro, wind, geothermal and renewables classified as solar & others. In addition to these, the company had 770 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in operation at the end of September, up from 685 MW in the year-ago period.

In terms of green power generation, Enel recorded double-digit increases in output in native Italy, Iberia and Latin America, and a 7.2% year-on-year rise in North America.
