Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTItaly's Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) has commenced construction of a 30.88-MW solar park in Panama's province of Chiriqui.
The company said on Tuesday that the Madre Vieja photovoltaic (PV) plant is expected to commence feeding power into the local grid in December 2021 while commercial operation is set for February 2022.
Madre Vieja will consist of 68,220 solar panels and be able to generate 48.68 GWh of electricity per year, enough to offset over 12,574 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
Together with the 13-MW Jaguito and the 26-MW Esperanza solar farms, Enel Green Power Panama (EGPP) has invested a total of USD 130 million (EUR 109.5m) in Panama's solar sector.
At present, EGPP operates the 300-MW Fortuna hydropower plant (HPP), the 12-MW Chiriqui and the 8-MW Cocle solar parks as well as the 42-MW Sol Real PV complex.
