Enel Green Power connects to grid 206 MW wind capacity in Romania

Italy's Enel Green Power said on Friday it has connected to the grid three new wind farms located in Romania's southeastern region of Dobrogea with a total installed capacity of 206 megawatts (MW).

A total of around 340 million euro ($448 million) were invested in the construction of the wind farms, allowing Enel Green Power to reach - in just two years, a total wind installed capacity in Romania of around 500 MW, the company said in a statement.

Once fully operational, the new wind farms - Elcomex EOL (Zephir I), Targusor (Zephir II) and Gebelesis — will be able to generate about 560 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy each year.

The Elcomex EOL wind farm comprises fifty-two wind turbines of 2.3 MW each for a total installed capacity of around 120 MW. Once fully operational, the new wind farm will be able to generate around 340 million kWh of energy each year.

The Targusor wind farm has twenty-six wind turbines of 2.3 MW each for a total installed capacity of around 60 MW. Once fully operational, it will be able to generate more than 170 million kWh of energy per year.

The Gebelesis wind farm, in northern Dobrogea, comprises five wind turbines of 3.0 MW each and six wind turbines of 2.0 MW each for a total installed capacity of 27 MW. Once fully operational, it will be able to generate around 50 million kWh of power each year.

Enel Green Power is the Enel Group unit in charge of the development and management of renewable energy sources at international level. The company has an installed capacity of over 7,800 MW from a mix of sources including wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass. Enel Green Power has over 700 operational plants in 16 countries in Europe and the Americas.
