Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTNov 13, 2013 - Italy’s Enel Green Power (BIT:EGPW) said on Tuesday it had launched the construction of the new Sureste I-Phase II wind farm in Mexico for a total installed capacity of 102 MW.
The plant, located in the state of Oaxaca, will comprise 34 wind turbines with a capacity of 3 MW each and will generate up to 390 GWh annually once it enters in operation in the second half of 2014, a statement read.
The project will require a total investment of some USD 160 million (EUR 119.1m), in line with the growth targets set out in Enel Green Power’s 2013-2017 business plan.
In June, Enel Green Power, via its unit Enel Green Power Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V, signed a USD-100-million loan with BBVA Bancomer Group part of which will be used for the construction of the new plant, which is held by Energias Renovables La Mata, S.A.P.I. de C.V., a subsidiary of Enel Green Power Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V.
Enel Green Power has won the right to build Sureste I-Phase II in a public tender organised by the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission with a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) associated to the project. The electricity produced by the plant will be delivered to the grid through a nearby substation.
In Mexico, Enel Green Power currently has around 197 MW of installed capacity, of which 144 MW of wind power and 53 MW of hydroelectric power.
In Latin America, the group currently runs renewable energy plants in Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Chile and Brazil, with a total installed capacity of 990 MW.
